Discovering the right tattoo needles and permanent makeup needles can be overwhelming due to the extensive range of options available. Fortunately, our article outlines key characteristics and technical details of PMU needles and cartridges to help you pick the best needle system for each client.
Nozzle needles are built by combining a needle and a disposable nozzle cap that guides the needle. However, this design is cheap, burdensome, and presents risks of infection transmission. Blood and lymph would settle in the needle and probably partially enter the nozzle cap, making cross-contamination a secondary risk. Instead, we recommend choosing cartridge or module-based needles with disposable needles that provides greater sterility and safety.
The most commonly available needle diameters are 0.25, 0.30, and 0.35 millimeters. You may also come across diameters ranging from 0.18 to 0.40 millimeters. Diameters of 0.25 to 0.30 millimeters are compatible for creating hair and spray effects on eyebrows, fine pixels, and watercolor shading and are appropriate for all zones. Meanwhile, diameters of 0.35 millimeters work well for fast coloring for eyebrows and lips or in permanent eyelid makeup.
Here are examples of four tattoo needle cartridge diameters:
- size 6 = 0.2 mm.
- size 8 = 0.25 mm.
- size 10 = 0.30 mm.
- size 12 = 0.35 mm.
The next important feature is the taper of needles. Needles are tapered in short, medium, and long versions. Short versions are only sharpened at the tip and not ideal for powder techniques. Medium versions are roughly one-third sharpened and suitable for medium-density coloring. Long versions are shaped like cones and are extremely sharp and traumatic. Ensure to follow appropriate safety measures when utilizing these needles. They maintain pigment longer in the skin, enabling masterful shading, and are popular among PMU masters.
The textured single needle design for permanent makeup has a rough metal surface, which ensures that more pigment is implanted when the needle enters the skin. Though the textured needles are more traumatic than smooth ones, they facilitate the adhesion of more pigment to the skin.
You can choose configuration options, such as RL (Round Liner) for contour needles and RS (Round Shader) for shading and shadows. The numeric count of needles that are soldered in a circle is represented as 1RL, 3RL, 5RL, 7RL.
Choose from a range of safe cartridges like Kwadron, Mast, and Cheyenne that our shop offers with a membrane that keeps blood and pigment from returning to your tattoo machine for complete sterility and safe work procedures.
Hopefully, this article will aid you in finding the most suitable cartridges for your PMU work and improve your micropigmentation skills. Best regards!
